County Council to Take No Action on Sales Tax Referendum


For months, the idea of a half-cent sales tax increase in Volusia County to fund infrastructure has been discussed. This morning during normal Volusia County Council session, Item 2 addressed Ordinance 2018-11, seeking voter approval of a half cent sales tax to be placed upon the November ballot. After public comment by both the Elected Official Roundtable Chair Mayor Bob Apgar and The Volusia Manager's Association Chair Joe Yarbrough stating consensus by both groups to postpone the question being placed upon the ballot, the County Council agreed to take no action at this time.
