VCARD programs
are great opportunities to get acquainted with Central
Florida’s local government and development professionals –
as well as officials with state regulatory agencies.
Upcoming Special Events include:
EVENTS merge business networking with casual
conversation among government and development counterparts
who rarely are able to interact in more formal
environments. Here’s a sampling:
ISSUES …
VCARD COMMITTEES help members
understand topics related to their business – such as
wetlands permitting; stormwater management; interlocal
planning; or local governments’ land development codes.
Current committees include:
Various Local
Government Liaison Committees meet regularly with
development staff of Volusia and Flagler local governments.
These informal sessions are valuable for exchanging ideas
about the development review process -- and to become
informed of the municipalities’ land use planning issues and
/ or changes to their development codes.
Within the past year, these ‘Liaison’ Committees have
interacted with planning staffs of Port Orange, Ormond
Beach, Deltona, Palm Coast, and Volusia and Flagler
Counties.
Flagler County – Our Association has a Chapter
(commonly known as FCARD) that deals specifically with
topics relating to Flagler County’s local governments.
Interlocal Planning –
This unique panel visualizes concepts to help adjoining
local governments cooperate when issues arise that cross
their municipal borders – such as annexation areas;
development guidelines for major thoroughfares; and planning
for transportation, infrastructure and water resources
The committee meetings are
well-attended by VCARD members, local government planners
and elected officials. These sessions also are productive
educational forums on various aspects of interlocal and
regional planning – topics of major importance to Florida
growth management.
Feel
free to join us at VCARD’s upcoming events.
