Low Impact Development and Florida-Friendly Landscaping

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection and the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (IFAS) are working with the Taproot Agency, a research and creative firm, to develop a program that focuses on increasing the use of Low Impact Development and Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ at the community level. This program will support local government personnel, builders, developers, and other community leaders with the following practices:

? Florida-Friendly Landscaping™
? Environmentally sustainable development and redevelopment practices
? Conserving natural areas wherever possible
? Minimizing development’s impact on water quality of nearby natural areas
? Managing stormwater runoff effectively
? Stormwater Best Management Practices (BMPs)
? Low Impact Development/Green Infrastructure

The survey linked below will guide the program development team to better meet the needs of Florida’s community leaders. If you know someone who we should also hear from, please feel free to forward the link to them as well.
